"A few months ago, I had not even heard of NCIS," a terrorist remarks in the gripping season opener, "Truth or Consequences," a benchmark episode. Where's he been? There is considerable comfort to be taken in the show's format. Episodes usually begin with discovery of a shocking and grisly murder, then office banter and byplay until Gibbs announces said crime ("We got a dead marine, grab your gear") and then the labyrinthine investigation leading to an act 4 twist. This isn't Law and Order, where sometimes the guilty walk. This is NCIS and justice is always served. But it's not the crimes; it's the characters that are at the heart of this series' enduring popularity. This season provides Ziva (Cote de Pablo) with an especially satisfying arc as she quits the Mossad to become an actual NCIS agent and studies for her United States citizenship exam. Her will they-won't they romantic tension with DiNozzo simmers satisfactorily over the course of the season. Season 7 comes full circle with Gibbs's capture by Mexican drug cartel leader Paloma Reynosa, seeking revenge for Gibbs's murder of her father. She offers him a career change. As opposed to the standard PG-13 rom com, things get surprisingly raunchy here, but organically so, with the slight snafus and briefly major embarrassments that should ring true to most relationship veterans. As in Easy A, Gluck has assembled a fantastically game supporting cast, including Woody Harrelson, Jenna Elfman, and especially the great Richard Jenkins and Patricia Clarkson as two vastly different parental figures, but it's really the two leads' show. DVD-9 discs cost less when purchased in large spindles. A DVD-9 disc is a data or video DVD with two layers that hold information, allowing it to store approximately twice as much data as a standard single-layer DVD. This increased storage capacity allows you to use fewer discs when backing your computer up, and also allows you to store multiple movies on a single disc. However, DVD-9 discs have cost and speed drawbacks.A DVD-9 disc -- also known as a dual-layer DVD -- has two surfaces that store data, one under the other. After burning or reading the first layer of a DVD-9 disc, a DVD drive adjusts its laser to access the second layer of the disc without altering the first. When you insert a DVD-9 disc into your computer, Windows reports that it has 7.95GB of available storage. However, the disc's package may display a storage capacity of 8.5GB. This discrepancy is due to the difference between the decimal and binary systems of quantifying computer data.
Hardware manufacturers began to introduce dual-layer DVD drives during the mid-2000s, and now most DVD drives support DVD-9 discs. However, if you have a DVD drive manufactured before the mid-2000s, it may not support DVD-9 discs. Look for an emblem such as "DVD-DL" or "DVD Multi-Recorder" on the bezel of a DVD drive to confirm dual-layer support. In some cases, it may be possible to convert a single-layer DVD drive to a dual-layer drive by installing new firmware.
Even the least expensive modern DVD burners can burn DVD-9 discs. However, a single DVD-9 disc tends to cost slightly more than two DVD-5 discs, so you may spend slightly more money if you exclusively buy DVD-9 discs for data storage. A spindle of 50 DVD-9 discs has a per-unit cost of approximately 64 cents when purchased from a discount retailer, while a spindle of 50 DVD-5 discs has a per unit cost of approximately 22 cents. Speed is an additional drawback of using DVD-9 discs: a typical high-speed DVD burner writes data at up to 24x when using DVD-5 discs, but burns DVD-9 discs at a much slower speed of 12x. Therefore, DVD-9 discs may take up to four times longer than DVD-5 discs to fill completely with data.
A DVD-9 disc holds considerably more data than a DVD-5 disc, which holds 4.37GB. However, it holds slightly less than a DVD-10 disc, which holds 8.75GB, or a DVD-18 disc, which holds 15.9GB. While a DVD-9 disc has one side with two layers, a DVD-10 disc has two sides with one layer each. A DVD-18 disc has two sides with two layers each. The primary benefit of burning content on a DVD-10 disc rather than a DVD-9 disc is compatibility, as some computer DVD drives cannot read or burn content on dual-layer discs. These drives can handle DVD-10 discs because each side is the same as a DVD-5 disc.

Turn off your Alienware M5750 laptop and disconnect the AC power cord. Turn the laptop over and remove the battery pack.
2 Remove the screw displaying the miniature CD icon from the bottom of the M5750. Grasp the tray cover and pull the DVD drive out of the laptop. Remove the screw with the hard disk drive (HDD) icon, then remove the HDD from the computer in the same manner.
3 Remove the screw next to the small picture of a random access memory (RAM) module. Remove the RAM cover and set it aside. Put on the antistatic wrist strap and clip it to a nearby metal object before continuing.
4 Use your fingers to press outward on the two clips that secure the memory module until it pops up slightly. Remove the module from the slot and set it aside.
5 Remove the cover slot with the wireless antenna signal icon. Unplug the cable leads from the M5750’s wireless network card, then remove the card using the same technique you used to remove the memory module.
6 Remove all remaining screws on the bottom of the laptop. Turn it back over and open the LCD screen until it lays almost flat.
7 Use the awl to remove the small rubber grommet on the right side of the M5750 laptop near the back edge. Remove the screw underneath and slide the hinge cover/keyboard edge cover to the right to remove it from the laptop.8Remove the three screws from the area revealed when you removed the edge cover. Lift upward on the top edge of the M5750 keyboard and rotate it toward you. Disconnect the keyboard cable that leads to the motherboard, then remove the keyboard from the laptop.
9 Remove the six screws (three on either side) in the area where the keyboard sits. Close the LCD screen.10Remove the two screws on the rear edge of the laptop, where all the input/output ports are located. Use the nut driver to remove the thumb screw nuts from the parallel and video ports. Open the LCD screen again.
11 Disconnect the video cable for the M5750 LCD screen from the motherboard. Disconnect the two wireless antenna leads as well.
12 Lift straight up on the M5750 screen assembly to remove it from the laptop. Place the LCD screen face down on a soft towel to avoid scratching or damaging it.
13 Use the awl to separate the upper and lower halves of the M5750 casing. Be very careful not to break the tabs that help hold the two halves of the casing in place.14Lift the upper half of the casing and disconnect the cable for the touchpad from the motherboard. Remove the upper casing assembly from the laptop.
15 Remove the three screws that secure the M5750 cooling fan assembly. Unplug the two cables that lead from the cooling fan to the motherboard. Lift straight up on the cooling fan assembly to remove it.
16 Use the screwdriver to turn the locking screws on the central processing unit (CPU) socket counterclockwise and unlock the processor. Lift up on the CPU chip to remove it from the ZIF socket on the motherboard.
17 Remove all remaining screws that secure the motherboard to the lower half of the case. Lift straight up and remove it from the lower casing assembly.
18 Insert the new motherboard into the lower casing assembly and align it with the screw holes. Secure it to the case with the screws you removed from the old board.
19 Insert the processor into the new motherboard. Reconnect the cooling fan assembly and secure it with the retaining screws.
20 Reassemble the Alienware M5750 laptop by reversing the steps you used to take it apart.

6Install the double interlock releasing panel inside the cabinet, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
7Power up the panel using a battery to ensure that it is operating normally. If so, connect one of your system's circuits and test the panel again. This should be repeated until all circuits are connected.
Altering a fire sprinkler system is a complex task that should only be attempted by a professional.
Fire circuits must not be connected to standard high voltage circuits.

Broken windows have to be replaced eventually. Removing and replacing a glass window that is broken or no longer functioning properly is a relatively simple do-it-yourself repair job. However, there are definitely safety precautions you need to take to avoid putting yourself in harms way while you remove the window. Taking advance precautions before removing the window will help ensure your safety.Difficulty:ModerateTarpsMasking tapeThick glovesEye protectionWood chisel or putty knifeGarbage can1 Lay tarps out on the ground on either side of the window to catch stray pieces of glass that happen to break off. Use masking tape or weighed objects to hold the tarps in place.
2Put on protective clothing, including protective eyeglasses or goggles and thick gloves. You also want to wear a long-sleeved shirt, jeans and closed-toed shoes with thick soles that will be difficult for broken glass to permeate if you happen to step on some.
3Remove the glass. If the window is already shattered, remove each piece of glass from the frame by carefully picking it out one at a time with your gloved hands.
4Remove glass that isn't broken by using a putty knife or wood chisel to remove the putty from the window frame, along with the glazier's points. The glazier's points are the metal pieces that hold the window glass in the frame. Keep one hand on the glass to keep it stable and to prevent it from falling while you remove the putty and glazier's points. Gently lift the glass from the window frame, and place it inside a garbage bag or other enclosed container where it will not harm anyone if it breaks or shatters.
Take all precautions necessary to prevent breaking the glass when you remove it from the window frame.

The Unrevoked rooting method is designed specifically for HTC phones such as the HTC EVO. This one-click rooting process adds a custom recovery image to the EVO and provides root access to your operating system. The Android's internal memory and system files are also accessible after flashing Unrevoked on to the phone. The installation process requires special HBOOT drivers used to provide USB support while the EVO is using the bootloader on the phone. After the drivers are installed you run the Unrevoked software on your computer to flash the new image onto your phone.
The HTC EVO can be manually rooted using an image file designed specifically for the phone and the Android Debug Bridge, also known as ADB. ADB is part of the Android Software Development Kit. This SDK program is installed to your computer. The ADB part of the kit runs through the command prompt or terminal on your computer. You use ADB to push the appropriate image file to your EVO and execute the commands to flash it to your phone. Only advanced users and those comfortable with working with a command prompt should use this method to flash the HTC EVO.
Other one-click root solutions similar to Unrevoked exist for the HTC EVO, such as Simple Root and rooting applications designed for all Android phones. These programs either apply the root through your computer or use an application installed on the EVO to push the root process through. The rooting applications also give you the option to install a new recovery image so that you can easily flash new ROMs and updates to your HTC EVO phone.
Rooting is not typically covered under a manufacturer's warranty, but you can revert the rooting process if you need warranty service on your phone. Otherwise your wireless service provider might not be able to assist you due to the changes on your phone's operating system version, ROM or kernel. If you lose power or incorrectly apply a manual root you may "brick" your phone, which renders it inoperable. You may be able to return the phone to factory settings after a brick -- and you may not.

Ematic MP3 players come in variety of shapes, sizes and features, so how long they should be charged will vary with different players. However, according to Ematic it can take up to four hours for a dead battery to fully charge. Low batteries can take up to two hours to fully charge.
Ematic MP3 players can only be charged using a computer. Most are compatible with both Macs and PCs; however, they will require certain updates to work properly. Referring to the system requirements on the player's manual will tell you if your computer is compatible with the player or not. If the computer is compatible, turn on the player, and then connect it to the an open USB port using the USB cable. The computer must be turned on or the player won't charge. If you're using a laptop, plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. When the "USB Connected" message appears on the screen, pressing the "Exit" button will automatically display a large icon with the message "Charging" below it.
The Ematic MP3 player won't charge if the computer doesn't meet the minimum system requirements. In addition, you will experience connection problems if the USB cable is faulty, so use a different cable. If the connection problem persists, restarting your computer will also reboot the hardware and solve temporal USB port issues. Sometimes, too many USB devices can cause USB port overloads, so disconnecting additional devices and connecting the Ematic MP3 player alone will solve the charging problem.
To improve your Ematic MP3 player's battery life, turn it off when you're not using it. Enabling the "Power Off Time" feature from the "System Settings" menu can also save battery power because the player will automatically turn off after a preset period of inactivity.

2Use Disk Utility to make a DMG file of the OS X installation disk. Save as the Snow Leopard installation DVD or the new Lion installation DVD. Create a "New Image" to save to the desktop. The "New Image" shortcut will display on the desktop for easy access..
3Verify that the available USB flash drive or external Firewire is completely empty. All stored content will be lost during the rebooting process. Launch Disk Utility to start the transfer process to the selected portable storage unit. Select the preferred hard drive or flash drive to boot during the installation of the OS X portable application.
4Partition the drive under the options menu. Choose 1 "Partition and then hit the "Options." Look for the "GUID Partition Table" option. Hit okay to reformat the drive and clear any stored content. Restore the New Image of the Snow Leopard Installation DVD onto the newly formatted portable storage device.
5Use the Disk Utility tool to transfer other software directly from an installation DVD or create a "New Image" saved to the desktop. Partition, reboot and restore any OS X program application onto a new portable storage unit, to make every favorite application portable.
Use small separate portable storage units or USB flash drives for individual applications.
Label flash drives and external hard drives when new applications are created. Always verify that portable storage units are partitioned properly and that valuable content is transferred out before rebooting.

The cage should be at least twice the size of the bird's wingspan. Cockatiels are beautiful but sometimes temperamental birds. Upon returning home for the first time with your new pet, it’s important to introduce the cage in a manner that is as stress free as possible. You want the cockatiel to associate interacting with you with pleasant activities; otherwise it may quickly learn to resist you with biting and pecking.Make sure you have a clean and comfortable cage for your bird. If you do, the cockatiel is more likely to think of it as a pleasant shelter, rather than a prison. As a rule, the size of the cage should be at least twice the size of the bird’s wingspan. The larger the cage, the better for the cockatiel. Place the cage in an area that is free from drafts and too much sunlight. Also be sure that the cage is far enough above the ground that it won’t be disturbed by pets or children.
When you bring your cockatiel home from the store, it’s already been through some trauma – your new pet has been removed from its home, put in a box and taken on a car ride. Help facilitate the adjustment to the new cage by having the cage prepped and ready for your bird before you bring it home. When it’s time to put the cockatiel in its new home, don’t reach your hand in the container to take out the bird. It’s stressed and will not respond kindly – it may even bite. Instead, open the box close to the cage so that the bird’s only exit option is to go inside the cage. Once in its new home, the bird should be left alone for anywhere from several hours to a full day, to get acclimated and a bit more relaxed.
Sometimes a cockatiel is reluctant to return to its cage after having been free to fly around the room for a time. If this is the case, try dimming the lights. This will trick the cockatiel into thinking its nighttime, and it will be more relaxed and receptive to returning to its cage. Corner the bird and gently scoop it up into your hands, then place it back in its home. If the bird resists this approach, get a towel to cover the cockatiel and gently transport it to its cage.
Getting the bird to return to its cage is easier if you’ve spent some time building trust with your pet. If you give the cockatiel treats that it eats out of your hand, it will associate your hand with food and be more likely to allow you to handle it. Feeding the bird in this manner will also help you to “hand tame” your pet. The goal in hand taming is to get your bird to “step up” – meaning use your finger as a perch. When you offer your hand as a perch, make sure it’s palm down, which the bird will find less threatening. Always talk to your bird in a calm soothing voice.

As you adapt to the changing landscape, you may want to purchase an iPod mixer so you can supplement your beloved, dusty crates of records with the hottest new digital releases from iTunes or the next big thing you just discovered on SoundCloud.Numark, a well-regarded manufacturer of professional DJ equipment, responded to customer criticism of its iDJ dual-iPod mixer with the iDJ2 all-in-one system that requires just one iPod. This unit includes one iPod docking station, an LCD display, two rubber jog wheels, level faders, cross-fade and pitch control. The iDJ2 innovative firmware Crate allows you to load two MP3s at time from a single iPod -- one track onto each of the unit's two jog wheels. In addition to scratching, you can use either jog wheel to scroll quickly through your iPod's music library and select tracks to cue. The iDJ2 also features RCA, USB and mic inputs for mixing audio from external sources, and even an s-video output for iPods with video.
Designed with the amateur or hobbyist in mind, Gemini's bare-bones iTrax is a smaller unit with fewer features than the Numark iDJ2 and lists at about half the price. Much like the original Numark iDJ, the Gemini iTrax features two angled iPod docks and requires two iPods or one iPod and one external source. The iTrax has per-channel volume faders, gain and EQ, a mic input and a USB port for connecting external digital sources. Consider purchasing the iTrax if you plan on mixing with older generation iPods, as it has a reputation for compatibility.
Despite its lengthy name, the Acoustic Solutions Homemix i-Mixer Twin is one of the smallest iPod DJ mixers available. This extremely compact unit features dual docking stations for mounting two iPods, two small jog wheels for scratching, and a center click wheel for scrolling through your iPod's music library. Instead of having per-channel faders, the i-Mixer has a single, space-saving horizontal crossfader located below the click wheel. The iMixer Twin also includes pitch control, high-pass and low-pass filters, and built-in reverb and phase. Though the build quality is what you might expect from a generic, OEM-type product, the i-Mixer Twin is portable, comes in a package with headphones and a microphone, and could be an excellent introductory unit for an aspiring DJ who doesn't have much to spend.
If you're a DJ with a limited budget, an existing coffin setup and an immediate need to incorporate digital music sources into your sets, you can jury-rig your own iPod MP3 mixer using two iPods, any mixer with at least two channels, and two RCA-to-mini stereo adapter cables. Plug the mini sides of the cables into the headphone jacks of your iPods and the RCA plugs into your existing mixer. Secure the iPods to the center of your coffin using Velcro strips or wrist straps. You may find it hard to keep your iPods solidly in place throughout your sets, but this could make a great temporary solution until you have the funds for a more serious unit -- and it isn't any larger than the iPods themselves. If you do not have a DJ setup already, connect your iPods to any small two-channel mixer.
